FIRST TEAM RIDE

PELOTON CROSSING THE GOOIMEER AGAINST HEADWIND

Last Sunday was our first road bike ride of the year and especially nice as we had a big group. 35 guys and girls did our first 70 kms towards the goal in July and the fundraising we will do from now on for the ALS fundation in Holland. Jos was in the top peloton during the whole ride and it was brilliant to see how in shape he is. I believe it was a extra incentive and motivation for everybody.

With the snow gone on Friday and temperatures staying around 5 degrees Celsius on Saturday, everybody got excited and ready to ride. I believe for the first time everybody was ready ahead of the departure time at 9:00. When we started it was around 3 degrees and we pick up speed quite quick. Everybody wanted to warm up!

We crossed Hilversum south and went thru Losdrecht all the way up to Weesp and Muildenberg thru some small winding roads. Most of the time we were facing the headwind and the peloton kept on pushing good speed and that was a challenge for some new members. We stick together until half way thru the gooimeer road.

From there everybody went their maximum speed until we reach the Stichtse Brug (bridge) when we regroup. We pushed like crazy against a strong headwind and starting from the back with another 3 guys meant we couldn't catch up with the frong guys. It was good to see most of the team is motivated and could keep a good speed.

From the bridge we went all the way back to Hilversum. We stayed together as much as possible but being the first ride for many riders some small groups stayed behind. But being a team we made sure nobody was left behind and everybody got a good experience. Now everybody is fired up to start training hard and start to reach out to their friends to support the cause.
